Medical magnets, also known as therapeutic magnets, can be effective if used correctly. There are two types of magnets that are made. You have Unipolar and Bipolar. And newest to the market is the technology of biaxial rotational magnetic poles. I will explain that in a minute.
Magnets have two poles. The North pole and the South pole. The north and south pole of a magnet is just the designation of how the magnetic fields flow and is not referring to the north pole of the Earth. The north pole is magnetically negative and the south pole is magnetically positive.
It is called the north pole of a magnet because when seen on a compass it will always points towards the Earth's north magnetic pole and vice versa. Because opposites attract, the Earth's north magnetic pole is really a south magnetic pole. Don't worry too much about that though.
At first, due to very limited research, many scientists believed that the magnetic poles did not affect the body in any way, shape or form. It was believed that applying north and south poles to the body produced the same results.
This has been proven to be false, mainly through the research of Dr. William Philpott M.D. Dr. Philpott observed that each pole affected living tissues in different ways.
Dr. Philpott's research on medical magnets revealed that when an injury occurs the area is magnetically positive (south pole). After a few hours (when healing occurs) the area becomes magnetically negative.
Through medical research it also reveals that the positively charged atoms in the blood stream are attracted to the negative charge of the north pole magnet. Molecules such as hydrogen (H+), Calcium (Ca+), Potassium (K+), Magnesium (Mg+), Carbon (C+), and Iron (Fe+). All these molecules are important to cellular function. If they are unable to pass in and out of your cells then the cellular process becomes disrupted.
Unipolar magnets are medical magnets that have been artificially created in a lab to have the north pole on one side and the south pole on the other side. A bipolar magnet is a magnet created with both poles on one side.
The disadvantage to having a bipolar magnet is the affect the south pole can have on injured living tissue. However, the bipole magnets that I use are very effective in relieving my aches and pains, reducing inflammation, and swelling. Only one company has been able to patent the technology that allows magnetic energy to flow in every direction, leaving no space untouched like some magnetic products.
North pole magnets stops the development of growth and infection. South pole magnets stimulates growth of tissue and living systems (bacteria).
For those who did not respond well to magnets it could be because it was used incorrectly.
If you have a bipolar medical magnet, wait at least 48 hours before using it because of the interaction of the south pole and north pole.
I did mention the biaxial rotation magnet. A biaxial rotation magnet is a magnet that has a constant magnetic field with multiple poles due to its rotation. It creates a three dimensional movement of the magnetic field. Read this article for further information.
Medical magnets are great if used correctly and effectively. I use a biaxial rotation magnet and it has come in handy.
