Horses are magnificient creatures. They are beautiful, splendid and provide loving companionship.
Whether you ride competitively or for pleasure using magnetic therapy for horses is a natural way to help your horse maintain muscle health and prevent further muscle injury. Horses, like humans, suffer from diseases and injuries as well.
Before I talk about magnetic therapy for horses I first need to explain how muscles in horses react to stress related injuries. When it comes to injuries horses are like humans. They do not like pain and will try to avoid it. As you know muscles controls movement. Without muscles horses and humans can not move.
Most muscle injuries in horses occur because the muscles have not been properly conditioned before an activity (riding, jumping, etc) or they occur because the trainer pushes the horse too hard to achieve maximal performance.
Horse trainers have a tough job. They know that if they do not push the horse hard enough, the horse's muscles do not rebuild and increase enough to withstand competition or riding. However, if the horse is pushed TOO hard then the musculoskeletal system becomes strained and stressed causing pain and limiting motion.
Let's start with an example. Let's say you hurt your right knee while walking downstairs. The pain isn't unbearable so you could still walk on it but when you put too much pressure you experience pain.
So what do you do?You protect that knee by putting more pressure on the other knee, that one that doesn't hurt. If you continue to ignore your right knee problem the left knee carrying all that extra weight is going to eventually experience pain.
How does this relate to horses? A horse with a sore back will do the same thing. A horse will twist and turn and shift its weight to compensate for the discomfort it is feeling. The horse will put more pressure on areas that are not experiencing pain and eventually this leads to pain in other areas throughout its body.
Horses also develop "knots" in their muscles when they become stressed or strained. Using magnetic therapy for horses, far infrared therapy and massage will:
How do you know where to massage? Horses have thirteen acupressure points along their spine. You work the muscles parallel to the spine by applying magnetic, far infrared and massage therapy to help loosen any stress knots and soreness.
Work these stress areas before exercising the horse. When you do this, it gives the horse's muscle greater flexibility and will allow the horse to work out any muscular issues that otherwise would be made worse by exercise.
Your goal in providing magnetic massage to your horse is to restore free range of motion and flexibility so that the horse may compete or roam without muscle restrictions.
There are two types of magnetic therapy for horses massage units that can be used to work the horse's muscles.
This magnetic therapy for horses massage roller has nodules on the massage balls to stimulate the muscles and magnetic technology within the balls to create a magnetic field when rolled on the body. Several applications of massage with this hand held unit may be necessary to restore muscle suppleness to areas with severe muscle spasms. This roller is used only on large muscle masses.
The battery powered unit can be used anywhere on the horse's body. This unit does not have any nodules on it.
In areas that are not massaged with the magnetic roller use a far infrared and magnetic blanket to further promote free range of motion and flexibility. The blanket will keep muscles flexible and warmed up until the area is massaged and even post massage.
Most horses willl respond to the application of magnetic massage in 2-3 days and in those with minor injuries the results may be immediate. As a horse owner you should be aware of the possibility of reinjury to areas that are constantly stressed.
A full body magnetic therapy for horses massage demonstration on your horse usually takes about 45 minutes. Diana L. Bruni writes,
During this time the horse's head can be seen to dip lower and lower until the eye lids droop, the lips hung loose, the ears swing out to the sides, and the horse begins to drool. The trainer was amazed to see that the soreness in the shoulders, back, hindquarters, or stifle/gaskin area had been reduced drastically, the horse more alert, followed her lead and was easier to work.
If you are located in the Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama area and you are interested in having this demonstration performed at your barn please fill in the contact information below so that we may contact you with further information.
