Magnet Therapy for Depression Effectiveness

"Happiness and sadness run parallel to each other. When one takes a rest, the other one tends to take up the slack. " ~Hazelmarie Elliott (“Mattie”)

Are you curious if using magnet therapy for depression can help your condition? It might be! This treatment is called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. This magnetic treatment is different than the type of magnets discussed on this website. Transcranial magnetic stimulation uses electromagnetic therapy.

Electromagnetic requires electricity to produce a magnetic field. This type of magnetism is also considered much more powerful, producing higher gauss levels than static magnetism. Static magnets produce a consistent magnetic field without any electricity.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation works by sending electromagnetic currents to the front part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex. A large electromagnetic coil is placed near the scalp at the forehead. A clicking sound can be heard when the currents are active. It is known that the prefrontal cortex is underactive in people who suffer from sever depression. This part of the brain regulates mood.

Using magnetic therapy for depression has been showed to have little to no side effects for participants. This treatment has been approved by the FDA but since it is still very new, there are very few doctors who perform this procedure.

About 20 percent of people suffering from severe depression do not respond well to anti-depressant medication. Therefore, using magnet therapy for depression is an alternative treatment option and is proving to be successful. However since each person's body is different some may need more treatment than others.

It is not known whether static magnets will produce the same results for depression.

Consider This About Magnet Therapy for Depression

Let's say you are suffering from severe pain and limited joint mobility. You can hardly move, you can't exercise, you can't sleep, and you find yourself taking more and more medication because you the small dosage is losing its effectiveness on you. You hardly have an appetite because the pain is awful. You can no longer socialize with your friends because it hurts too much and requires too much energy. Your mood is sour because everything hurts and no one understands your plight.

Depression develops. You feel hopeless, helpless, weak and out of control. No one wants to be around you and vice versa.

If you haven't browsed the rest of this web site you'll find that static magnets can help you sleep better, reduce or even eliminate pain and for many people that I have met, changed their lives completely so that it becomes a life worth living.

When all these conditions are met, the depression - the feeling of helplessness and being out of control disappears as you become more active in living a good, happy life.

So although there are no studies that can say that static magnet therapy for depression works, for some people, if you change the conditions in which causes the depression you can change your life.
