I am going to share with you my best insomnia cure. In the last few days I've been using a combination of sleep strategies, sleep medication, and natural methods to find out which works best. I made sure I paid attention to my body and whether or not I felt well rested, full of energy, or tired and exhausted.
I want to stress that I am not here to treat, diagnose or cure any condition. This is just my opinion on what works for me. You must consult with a doctor or consider your options before making any decision concerning medication for insomnia.
With that said:
My best insomnia cure is a combination of valerian and magnetic therapy. I also used melatonin but because it is a hormone it can not be taken on a daily basis.
--Please do not take melatonin without
discussing it with your doctor. This hormone is meant as a temporary fix not a permanent solution to insomnia.--
Actually I didnt't find it, my friend gave it to me. She knew I had sleep issues and gave me a tincture bottle of valerian. I used the magnetic therapy for my shoulder (since it can be painful at night) and I would mix 20 drops of the tincture in about 2 ounces of water and drink it. Within 30-45 minutes I was drowsy and ready for bed.
I noticed how well valerian worked for me when I went camping. I usually have trouble sleeping out in the woods knowing full well that bears, wolves, and coyotes are lurking.
I usually sleep very light just in case.
I took my valerian bottle with me camping and never slept so good. This was an unusual camping trip due to the fact that we did not bring any lighting for usage after nightfall.
I got to experience total darkness for the first time in my life. You could not see your hand in front of you because it was so dark.
The moon was not out because of the clouds. It was a rainy, wet camping weekend. And we had a GREAT time. Mostly due to the company we had.
I'll admit. I was scared because it was so dark and the only light we had was our campfire which was hot but not very bright.
I took some valerian before bed and soon I was tired and falling fast asleep.
It was some of the best night's sleep I've had in years.
How do I know it was the valerian?
When I came home from camping I purposely did not take any valerian before bedtime. And that sucked.
I was wide awake, yet tired. My mind kept racing. I used my magnetic generator for my shoulder and neck and that helped but it was not the same as the valerian.
There have been some nights (before valerian, melatonin, and magnetic therapy) that I was desperate for sleep I would try prescription pills.
Years ago, my doctor at the time prescribed me muscle relaxers. They put me to sleep alright, but I could not function for another 5 hours after waking. I was so lethargic and listless that I gave up taking them after a month.
It didn't take my pain away nor did it make me feel better. I did not feel rested when I woke up. After that experience I refused to take muscles relaxers again.
I've also taken Tylenol PM and Somas and they did not work for me. I don't like taking them because they are a type of drug and can affect your body in the long run.
This is what I found to have worked for me. What's your best insomnia cure?
